Ruth M. Raycraft was born in Boston in 1912. In 1939 she began her nursing career at Long Island Hospital. In 1945 she joined the Army Nurse Corps. She served on the USAHS Republic and at La Garde General Hospital in Louisiana. After the Army she returned to the Long Island Chronic Disease Hospital until retirement in 1970 or 1971.
